ScaleTrip

Turn a number into a real-world scale.

How far is it?

Compare anything from 0.001 km to Neptune's orbit.

Decimals are supported and thousands separators appear automatically.

Lotte World Tower0.55 km

The height of Seoul's slender, curved supertall tower.

The references just below and above

Nearby references are selected by logarithmic distance, not linear spacing.

How long would this journey take?

Calculated as uninterrupted travel at representative average cruising speeds.

Real travel time varies with route, stops, weather and operating conditions.

Objects move along logarithmic spacing, while size is compressed from the real ratio to remain legible.

Artwork and diagram notes

Object, landmark and planet artwork is original AI-generated imagery made for ScaleTrip. Maps use public-domain Natural Earth boundaries. Illustrations stay recognizable through logarithmic visual compression; they are not literal scale drawings.

Turn a distance into a scale you can recognize

ScaleTrip compares your input with 56 human, object, architectural, geographic and astronomical references. It finds nearby references on a logarithmic scale and calculates travel time from the same value.

How the comparison works

A linear axis cannot keep 1 metre and 100 million kilometres readable on one screen. Positions therefore use logarithmic spacing and object sizes use logarithmic visual compression. The underlying distance calculation is never compressed.

Methodology

Check kilometres and miles together

Every visible value follows the selected unit. Use the converter when you only need an exact numeric result.
